US President Donald Trump also cited BRICS a reason behind imposing 25% tariffs on India. He said this at a press conference at the White House on Wednesday.
On the question of trade deal with India, Trump said- We are still talking. It also has a issue of BRICS. It is a group of anti -America countries and India is its member. This is an attack on the dollar and we will not allow anyone to attack the dollar.
Trump said- This is due to a little BRICS and a little due to business conditions. We have a huge loss. PM Modi is my friend, but he does not do much with us in terms of business. His tariff is the highest in the world. Now they are ready to cut it a lot.
Trump has also said earlier that the BRICS group of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa wants to try to end dominance of dollars. He had threatened that if they do so, the member countries of the group would impose 10% tariffs.
Said on the trade deal- let’s see what happens
We are talking to India right now, let’s see what happens. It does not matter much that we have an agreement or we take some tariffs from them. You will know by the end of this week. Trump said that the tariff would be applicable from 1 August.
