There was a terrorist attack on a Catholic Church in Komanda city of Eastern Dr Congo early Sunday. 38 people have died in this attack. The attack took place when people were joining the prayer meeting in the church.
The attack was carried out by the Alide Democratic Force (ADF), a rebel group associated with the Islamic State. Many houses and shops have also been burnt in the attack. The attackers attacked people with guns and knives.
Earlier, there was an attack in the nearby Machongani village, in which 5 people were killed. Some people took the attackers to the forest, which is not yet known.
The army has confirmed the death of 10 people, but more than 40 people were killed according to local media and a UN radio station.
The attackers set several houses and shops on fire.
Eastern Congo has been struggling with terrorist attacks for a long time.

Attacked people spending night in church
“The rebels attacked the Christians who were spending the night in the Catholic Church,” a human rights activist Christoff Munyanderu, who was at the scene in Komanda, told the media.
In Komanda, a citizen Doodone Durontabo told AP, ‘More than 30 people were shot inside and outside and we have seen three burnt bodies and several houses burning. The bodies of the victims are still on the spot, and the volunteers are preparing to bury them.
Congo struggling with long rebel groups
The rebel groups such as ADF and Rwanda -backed M3 have been active in Eastern Congo. The Congo army is fighting them, but the situation is not under control. Earlier this month, ADF killed many people in Ituri, which the United Nations described as a massacre.
The ADF was established in Uganda in the late 1990s. Who was angry with the government of Uganda President Yovery Museweni. These groups believed that the government was ignoring their interests. Initially it aims to fight against the government in Uganda.
The Uganda’s army took military action against the ADF, after which the group moved to the neighboring country Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
