Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Brasilia, the Brazilian capital on Tuesday after attending the BRICS Summit. He was welcomed by the traditional dance of Brazil at the airport here.

PM Modi will hold bilateral discussions with Brazilian President Lula de Silva today on trade, defense, energy, space, technology, farming and health.

The Indian PM is a visit to 5 countries from July 2 to July 10. Till now he has visited Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina. He is currently on a tour of Brazil and will visit Namibia from here.

PM Modi attended the climate conference yesterday

PM Modi earlier discussed issues like environment, climate conference (COP-30) and global health at the BRICS conference on Monday. He said that the health of people and the earth is connected to each other.

Modi said- Korona epidemic showed that the disease is not a passport or visa fascinating and everyone has to find a solution together. Therefore, we have to try together to keep our planet healthy.

BRICS countries condemned the Pahalgam attack

BRICS countries released a joint manifesto of 31 pages and 126 points at the 17th BRICS conference on Sunday. It condemned the Pahalgam terrorist attack and the Israeli attack on Iran.

Earlier on July 1, the Pahalgam attack was also condemned in a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the UBAD (Quad) group of India, America, Japan and Australia.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in this summit that the Pahalgam terrorist attack is not only India but the whole humanity. Condemnation of terrorism should be our principle, not convenience. Along with this, he raised the demand for a new world system.

At the same time, US President Donald Trump has announced an extra 10% tariff on new countries wishing to join BRICS.

1. Its diversity is the real strength of BRICS

PM Modi said that different thinking of BRICS countries and trust in the multi-polar world is its biggest strength.

2. New Development Bank (NDB) should invest thoughtfully

He said that the bank should invest only money in those projects which are necessary, they are of a long time and so that the credibility of the bank will remain.

3. Suggestion to create a common platform for science and research

PM Modi proposed to set up a BRICS Research Center, where all countries together can work on science and technology.

4. Resources are not misused

Modi said that no country has the right to use any resource only for its own benefit or as a weapon.

5. Control on digital content is necessary

He said that we should create a system that will know whether a digital information is real or not, where it came from, and it should not be misused.

6. AI Impact Summit will be held in India

PM Modi said that India will soon hold a big conference on Artificial Intelligence (AI), which will discuss its challenges and good use.

10% extra tariff threatened on Trump’s BRICS countries

US President Donald Trump has threatened countries joining BRICS. He wrote on his social media platform Truth Social on Sunday that whatever countries will associate themselves with anti -America BRICS policies, 10% additional tariffs will be imposed on them. No one will get a discount in this.

In fact, the BRICS manifesto expressed concern over the growing tariff against the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO). These tariffs were described as a threat to the global trade and supply chain. However, America was not directly named in it.

China appealed to BRICS countries to improve global order

Chinese has appealed to BRICS countries to improve global order (global rule). Chinese Prime Minister Lee Kyang said during the 17th BRICS conference on Sunday that BRICS countries should play a leading role towards improvement in global rule for building a better world.

He said that China, along with the rest of BRICS countries, is committed to establishing a just, equal, effective and systematic global rule.

  1. PM Modi said that Global has been a victim of double standards in issues like South Development, Resource distribution and security.
  2. The interests of global South were not given priority, but India always works above its selfishness in the interest of humanity.

Extension and improvement of BRICS:

  1. The expansion of the BRICS and the involvement of new countries reflects its ability to change over time.
  2. PM Modi stressed the need to improve the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), World Trade Organization (WTO) and New Development Bank.

Tough stance on terrorism:

  1. PM Modi described terrorism as the biggest challenge for humanity.
  2. The terrorist attack on 22 April 2025 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir is an attack on the soul, identity, and dignity of India, which is against the whole of humanity.

Demand for strictness on terrorism:

  1. The condemnation of terrorism should be made theory, not on the basis of convenience.
  2. There should be no hesitation in banning terrorists. Terrorism victims and supporters cannot be weighed on the same scales.
  3. Terrorism cannot be accepted to give silent support to terrorism for personal or political gains.

Emphasis on peace and cooperation:

  1. Explained the controversy and tension spread from West Asia to Europe, especially on the situation of Gaza.
  2. India is the land of Buddha and Gandhi, it rejects war and violence. Peace is the only way for the welfare of humanity.
  3. India supports every effort to take the world away from partition and struggle and to take dialogue, cooperation, and unity.
  4. India is committed to cooperation and partnership with all friendly countries.

What is BRICS? According to the official website of BRICS, it is a group of countries with 11 major emerging economies. These include Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.

Its purpose is to promote economic, political and social cooperation among these countries. It initially had 4 countries, called BRIC. The name was given in 2001 by Jim O’Neel, an economist of Goldman Sachs.

He then said that Brazil, Russia, India and China will carry forward the global economy in the coming decades. Later these countries came together and adopted this name.

In 2024, Belarus, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda and Uzbekistan are included in BRICS as partner countries.

Need to make BRICS and travel ahead

Western countries dominated the world’s economy after the fall of the Soviet Union and in the early 2000s. America’s dollars and international institutions such as International Monetary Fund (IMF) made decisions.

Russia, India, China and Brazil came together to reduce this American dominance, which later became BRICS. The purpose of these countries was to strengthen the voice of global South i.e. developing and poor countries.

In 2008-2009 when the western countries were going through an economic crisis. Then the economy of BRICS countries was moving rapidly.

Prior to the economic crisis, western countries were controlling 60% to 80% of the world’s economy, but the economic growth of BRICS countries in the recession showed that they had the ability to grow rapidly and compete with Western countries.

In a meeting held in Yakaterinburgh, Russia in 2009, BRICS countries conceived the multipler world, a multi -polar world, where the economic hold of western countries is weak and all countries get equal rights.

In 2014, BRICs took a big step and created a New Development Bank, which funds for infrastructure. Along with this, a reserve fund was also created so that these countries do not have to depend on the US dollars during the economic crisis.
