Holi family is the only church of Catholic Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday expressed regret over the death of three people in a tank firing at Gaza’s only Holi Family Catholic Church.
In fact, on Thursday, Gaza’s family Catholic Church was attacked by an Israeli tank, killing three people and injured ten others, including a pastor. The attack took place around 10:30 am (local time).
Hundreds of displaced people took refuge in this church. Netanyahu interacted with US President Donald Trump over phone. Netanyahu said the attack occurred by mistake, in which a gola fell on the church.

Netanyahu said, “The life of every innocent is a terrible disadvantage.” The Israeli Army IDF also said after investigation that a piece of shell was accidentally fell on the church. The army claims that it tried his best to save citizens and religious places from damage.
The Israeli army said that a piece of shells accidentally fell on the church during a military action in Gaza City. It is being verified.
On Thursday, the entire church was destroyed by the firing of the Israeli tank at Gaza’s only Catholic Church.

Trump-Netanyahu talks about attack
Caroline Levitt, the press secretary of the US White House, said that there was a stressful talks between Trump and Netanyahu about the attack.
He said, “The Prime Minister told the President that attacking the Catholic Church was a mistake of Israelis.”
Italy’s PM Boli- These attacks will not be accepted
Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni strongly condemned Israel’s recent attacks in Gaza. Meloni wrote on X, “Attacks in Gaza, Israel also targeted the Holi Family Church. These attacks on citizens for months cannot be tolerated. No military action can be correctly justified.”
Meloni said in May that Israel should follow international law in its military operations.
Catholic Church Group condemns the attack
At the same time, the Latin Patrikate of Jerusalem (a group of Catholic Church) condemned the attack in strong terms. He said that around 600 people took refuge in the church at the time of the attack.
Latin Patriycate Cardinal Pierbatista Pizabala said many people including Pastor Father Gabriel Romanelli were injured in the attack. He said-
People who took shelter in the church came there in the hope of saving their lives from war, their house, property and honor had already been snatched away. We sure that a tank deliberately attacked the church. Israel says this was a mistake, but we are not sure.

Pope Leo XIV mourned
The Vatican described the attack as a military attack and mourned on behalf of the Pope Leo XIV. The Pope prayed for the peace of the soul of the dead and the recovery of the injured.
The Catholic Church located at Holi Family Catholic Church, Gaza is known for its proximity with its late Pope Francis. During the ongoing war in Gaza, Pope Francis lived almost in contact with the community of this church.
He used to talk to the church pastor and people taking shelter there, so that they could take stock of their situation and encourage them. The church has been an important shelter for Gaza’s small Christian community (about 1,000 people).
