This flight of Delta Airlines was going from Los Angeles to Atlanta. Shortly after the take off, its left engine caught fire.

A flight engine in Los Angeles, USA caught fire shortly after taking off. After which the flight had to make emergency landing.

According to Aviation A2Z report, Delta Airlines flight DL446 was going from Los Angeles Airport to Atlanta. Then its left engine caught fire, after which the aircraft had to return for landing.

The aircraft was Boeing 767–400. The incident took place on July 18, now a video of it is going viral on social media, in which flames are seen coming out of the fire engine.

However, no one was hurt in this accident. The cause of the fire is yet to be known. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has started its investigation.

Fire was controlled after landing

According to the report, the pilot announced an emergency and prepared for landing back at the airport. Air Traffic Control (ATC) directed the aircraft back to the airport and informed the emergency services on the ground.

The aircraft circled over the Pacific Ocean after taking off and then returned over Downey and Paramount areas for safe landing. After landing, firefighters at the airport extinguished the fire.

The aircraft was 25 years old

The aircraft is about 25 years old and has two general electric CF6 engines. A spokesperson for the Delta Airlines told the BBC- Flight 446 had to return to Los Angeles after a problem in the left engine.

This is not the first such incident of Delta this year. In April, the engine of a second flight (1213) in Delta caught fire at Orlando International Airport. The aircraft was Airbus A330, with 282 passengers, 10 flight attendants and two pilots.
