Abdul Fatah Mahdi, brother of the deceased Talal Abdo Mahdi in the Nimisha Priya case, accused media activist Samuel Jerom of fraud. Abdul claimed that Jerome misused the funds raised in the name of Nimisha.
Abdul said- Jerome called himself a lawyer and gathered crowd-funding of more than Rs 34 lakh without the information or consent of the victim’s family in Yemen. Abdul challenged Jerome to prove his allegations wrong.
Abdul said in his Facebook post- When the President of Yemen approved the execution, I met Jerome in Sana. He congratulated him smiling. He accused Jerome of trading blood in the name of mediation.
Meanwhile, Sev Nimisha Priya International Action Council separated herself from Jerome. Council’s Legal Advisor Subhash Chandran K.R. Told that Jerome left the council on December 28 after receiving about Rs 17 lakh through the embassy on 27 December 2024.
Subhash said- The reason for his departure was that the council was questioned about his work. Subhash said that Jerome, Vice President Deepa Joseph and Member Babu John insulted the mediators on July 15 after the hanging. He made false claims against Sunni leader Kanthapuram Abubkkar Muslims and Yamani Sufi scholars.
The council apologized to Talal Mahdi’s family for this and said that both Nimisha and Talal’s families were deceived.
