So far 34 people have died due to heavy rains and floods in China’s capital Beijing and surrounding areas.

According to the government TV channel CCTV, 28 people have died in Miyun district of Beijing and 2 in Yanching district. Both these areas are located in the outer parts of the city.

More than 80,000 people have been evacuated from Beijing due to floods, out of 17,000 Miyun district. Due to continuous rains, there was a possibility of water falling up to 30 centimeters in parts of Beijing by Tuesday morning.

High alert, school and construction stopped in Beijing

The Beijing administration released the top level emergency response at 8 pm on Monday night. Under this, all schools have been closed. Construction work and external activities have also been banned.

The central government of China has sent an emergency assistance of 50 million yuan (about $ 7 million) to Hapai province. Also, central teams have been dispatched for relief operations in affected cities like Chengde, Baoding and Jhangjiakau.

The water level of a major reservoir in Miun district reached the highest level since its construction in 1959. After this, the administration decided to release water from it. In low -lying areas, those living on the banks of the river have been instructed to be vigilant.
