The Chinese government has launched a new scheme on Monday, in which parents of children younger than three years will be given 3,600 yuan (about 40,000 rupees) every year. This step has been taken to increase the declining birth rate in the country. The age of 21% of the population here is more than 60 years.

A couple in China can produce a maximum of 3 children, thus they can get 1.30 lakh rupees. China abolished its controversial “One Child Policy” about a decade ago, but despite this the birth rate is decreasing.

According to the state media, this scheme will help about 2 crore families to raise children. The scheme came into force from the beginning of this year and some money will also be given for children born between 2022 and 2024.

Many Chinese states are also running such schemes

Many provinces of China are already running such schemes. In Hohot city, three -child couples are being given up to 1 lakh yuan. There are 500 yuan every month for a third child in Sheenyang city.

Recently, the Central Government of China has also asked the State Governments to plan free pre-school education.

Why did China implement One Child Policy?

China introduced the One Child Policy in 1979. It was implemented from 1980. Then China’s population was 98.61 crores and was steadily increasing. China feared that the growing population could be a hindrance to the development of the country. Because of this, this policy was implemented.

During this time people were also made aware of family planning and strictness. People were fined, fired from their jobs, women were forced to have abortion and forcibly sterilization of men.

Till 2016, One Child policy remained in force in China. It is believed that China prevented 40 crore children from birth during this period. Its disadvantage was that the population of old people in the country kept increasing and the youth population decreased. Due to this, a two-child policy was implemented in 2016, giving some discounts.

China is one of expensive countries in terms of childbirth

China is one of the most expensive countries in the world in terms of raising children. According to the Young Population Research Institute, an average of Rs 56 lakh is spent on an average of a child to raise a child by the age of 17.

In January, government data showed that in 2024, China’s population declined for the third consecutive year. 95.4 lakh children were born in 2024, which is slightly higher than the previous year, but the total population is decreasing than 140 crores.
