In Australia, a woman has been found guilty of killing her mother -in -law, father -in -law and mother -in -law’s sister by feeding poisonous mushrooms.

According to Al Jazeera’s report, accused Erin Patterson called his mother -in -law Gail Patterson, his father -in -law Donald Patterson and mother -in -law’s sister Heather Wilkinson and Heather’s husband Ian Wilkinson on 29 July 2023.

Erin also called her separate husband Simon Patterson, but she refused to come. A few hours after eating food, the four guests fell ill, admitted to the hospital. Of these, Gayle (70 years), Donald (70) and Heather (66 years) died, while Ian survived.

Investigation revealed that poisonous death cap mushrooms were found in the food. Police arrested Erin in November 2023.

In the trial in an Australian court for 20 months, the aggrieved side claimed that Erin deliberately mixed the death cap mushrooms. He had collected these mushrooms from the forest after seeing his location on a website.

The government lawyer said that Erin and Simon had separated, but the relationship between the two was not bad. Erin and Simon also have two children, who were at home that day but did not eat Wellington.

At the same time, Erin’s lawyers said that it was an accident. He said that Erin had put mushrooms to enhance the taste of food, but he did not know that they were poisonous.

Erin’s lawyers said in the court that Erin himself had eaten there and became ill and he also presented the results of his medical test as evidence.

During interrogation, when the police asked Erin if she collects mushrooms or she had food dehydraters (moisture removal machine), she refused. The police later recovered a food dehydrateer from a garbage near his house, with pieces of death cap mushrooms.

Ian Wilkinson (71 years), who was alive in this incident, testified. Ian told that Patterson did not allow him and the rest of the guests to go to his kitchen on the day of lunch.

He said that Heather and Gayle had offered to help serve food, but Patterson refused to seek their help and served food themselves. Ian told that the same night he and his wife Heather started vomiting and diarrhea, but they did not take it seriously.

Erin Patterson was convicted of three murders (Gayle, Donald and Heather) and Ian Wilkinson attack in the 10 -week trial. He will be sentenced to the court soon. Arin may be sentenced to life imprisonment under the Australian law.
