The International News Agency Reuters in India has been closed on the X account since Saturday night. Users have not been able to use reals since yesterday. On its X account display, it is written, “This action has been taken in response to legal demand.”
It was earlier feared that this action had been taken by the Center. However, on Sunday, the central government spokesperson said that no legal action has been taken against the Reuters’ X account on their behalf. The government said she was working with X to resolve the issue.
Reuters’ X account is likely to be restored soon. However, some other accounts related to Reuters such as Reuters Tech News, Reuters Fact Czech, Reuters Pictures, Reuters Asia and Reuters China are still active.

There was a demand to block the account during Operation Sindoor The news agency PTI quoted sources said that during Operation Sindoor in May, the Center had demanded to block hundreds of X accounts including Reuters. Many accounts were stopped from being used in India.
According to the policy of X, an account is banned in a region when the company (x) gets a legal order regarding it. However, there was no action on the Reuters handle in May.
Sources believe that Elon Musk -owned X has taken action on the appeal of the Government of India and has blocked the Reuters X handle in India. However, now that the matter has calmed down, the government has asked X to block the account of the Reuters or remove the ban.
The White House also banned Reuters 3 months ago The Trump administration in the US decided to exclude the Reuters from the White House Press Pool in April. Along with this, Bloomberg and Associated Press (AP) News were also banned.
The press pool is a small group, which consists of about 10 media institutions. It consists of some journalists and photographers. These people cover every small and big activity of the President and inform the rest of the journalists.
After this, a spokesperson of Reuters had said that our news reaches billions of people every day. This step of the government threatens the rights of the public, in which it should get independent and accurate information.

There is always a group of journalists outside the White House or outside the White House to cover the President’s activities.
